Dior Cruise Collection 2020 - A Collaboration with Stephen Jones

"Dior's Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri imagined the collection like a map whose topography is enriched and animated by creative collaborations that nourish the project and enhance Dior's codes in a multilingual dialogue." [Show Press Pack, Dior]

Collaborations included, African designers on the continent as well as African, and Afro Caribbean artist and designers from the UK and US. The fabrics themselves were produced by the Uniwax Studio in Abidjan, Ivory Coast whom Chiuri gave free reign to reinterpret the house's  most iconic motifs.

Martine created a mini collection of headpieces ranging in scale from a simple headband to an elaborate turban. For the show a headband that every woman or girl could wear was selected.

The bands were reversible combining the collaborative Dior prints with ones from the Uniwax archives. Martine was asked to select fabrics from the archive for inclusion in the ready to wear line where two more of her designs were produced as part of the collection.
